Staff postitions for Reviewers, News/Article Authors still open

I am still seeking staff, this is a re-post of a post I did awhile ago. Platformer Update is growing more and more each day. Visitors now are not just finding our website through searches for platformer games, but rather through world of mouth as more and more people are now searching us by name in search engines. As our visitor count rises, we need more daily content to satisfy our daily readers. As we all know news is not always available daily for platformer games (though we try to make it so!) and the best thing to fill in the news gaps is with reviews! This is where you come in. If you feel you are capable of writing at least 1 review a week for any kind of platforming games and would like to join the PU Staff, contact me now! We are also looking for one more news/feature article writer, who may also do reviews if they please. Who knows, when the day comes when we get REALLY big, you can say you were part of the start of Platformer Update! If you are interested in applying and want more info please hit the break. Eternity’s Child is still on it’s way, as well as a sequel

When Eternity’s Child hit the PC a couple of months ago, it got some really really bad reviews. Since then no news has been posted on the planned WiiWare version, until now. However, according to Luc Bernard, publisher Alten8 is working very hard to get it out by the end of the year. The even more surprising news? the once cancelled GBA version Eternity’s Child 2: Retro Child will be making it’s way to WiiWare sometime next year. For a video of Eternity’s Child 2 click here.

Mirror’s Edge offers up a less-than-normal special edition

When you normaly think of special editions for games these days, what comes to mind? “Making of” bonus discs, art books, soundtracks, maybe a figurine, but never really messenger bags (unless you count the GTA4 duffle bag). EA is going to be offering a special edition bundled with the above messenger bag for $130, if you are bad at math it is really like paying an extra $70 for the bag itself. A bit much? maybe, unless you will actually make use of it than thats a different story. Either way, Mirror’s Edge still makes our list for one of the top 5 platformers to look forward to in 2008.

Get a glimpse of Banjo Kazooie in high definition

Since I cannot embed Gametrailers large, wonderful HD videos, I am simply going to have to link you to their newly posted XBLA Banjo Kazooie trailer in HD form. Bottom line is it looks very pretty, I mean sure you can really see how blocky characters and structures are now, but don’t forget this is an HD N64 game, textures really seem improved however and I can’t wait to play this game. Don’t forget as we previously reported that if you reserve Nuts & Bolts at Gamestop you will get this a full two weeks before it hits XBLA…for free! Not only that, but achievements you unlock in BK will unlock more features in Nuts & Bolts.

Own every NES platformer ever, oh and every other NES game as well

I tend not to go this general for platformer news, but this is just a bit too cool not to post. There is no doubt that NES is home to many many platformers, some of the best ever made actually. Now is your chance to own everyone of them, actually to own every NES game ever made in this eBay auction which is currently at over $10,000!  If you just don’t have that much money to spare maybe you will have some fun checking out it’s ending price, which I am sure will be as much as putting a down payment on a house.

Reminder: Today is a huge day for platforming!

Just in case you have been living under a rock, here is what is being released today for platformer fans:

I myself am very much looking forward to de Blob, as according to the reviews it is shaping up to be one of the best Wii games out there. If you read just one review for de Blob, make sure it is the IGN one as it is actually very informative and well written. Wario Land is also getting some nice critical acclaim, and Kirby is a for sure buy for fans of the pink puff ball as many regard this entry in the series to be the very best one. To top it all off Mega Man 9 hits the Wii’s Virtual Console a bit earlier than its 360 and PS3 counterparts for 1,000 Wii points, I myself am waiting for the HD 360 version. Vectorman also makes it’s was onto the VC, experience one of the best technically impressive platformers the Genesis has to offer.

Reader Review: Wario World (Gamecube)

Reader Review submitted by: erazorblade521

Story: As the name states, Wario World is a game starring Mario’s arch rival Wario. The game does not tell much about the story except that once upon a time there was an evil black gem with magical powers and one day a treasure hunter found and stole it. I turned to the manual about halfway through the game and it stated that it was Wario himself who stole the jewel. As he always does, he threw the treasure into his cellar with the rest of his collection and called it a day. The jewel awoke in his basement and turned the rest of Wario’s coveted treasure into monsters. Now Wario needs to travel across four worlds to get his treasure back.
