First video of a full level of Sonic Unleashed

Here is the first video of a full level of Sonic Unleashed that has ever been seen on the Internet so far. Sure people are walking in front of the camera (and standing there as well), but it gives us a very good idea of how the game will play out. The results? you decide but in my opinion these “speed” levels look great, most closely resembling a 3D interpretation on the DS Sonic Rush series, the entire levels looks like a non-stop rollercoaster ride.

ScrewAttack’s Top 5 and Worst 5 Sonic games

Yes this is a few months old, but like myself I am sure there are people out there that have never seen this before. ScrewAttack’s videos are often pretty funny and enjoyable so I hope some of you enjoy the video. Do you agree or disagree with any of the placements? for one I totally disagree with the #1 worst Sonic game, to avoid spoilers of the list stop reading here.

Sonic R was ranked their #1 worst Sonic game of all time but I must disagree, infact the worst Sonic ever did not even make the list, Sonic Jam for which was virtually unplayable. Sonic R to me was an enjoyable racer believe it or not and call me crazy but as weird as the soundtrack was… I enjoyed the soundtrack. Also for my top Sonic game list Sonic 2 would have made that list somewhere. What are your opinions?

Sega hears you, they realize Sonic games need a revival in quality got to have an in-depth interview with Sega’s VP of America Marketing Sean Ratcliffe, where one of their topics of Discussion is the Blue Hedgehog himself and his future development in Sega. Here’s one of my favorite quotes from the interview:

We’re taking Sonic in a different direction, slow him down and he transforms into a “Werehog.” And that changes the gameplay again. For fans of Sonic that have been looking for a next-gen experience, this is the game they’ve been waiting for.

Oh really? while the classic 2D view does look amazing, is this “Werehog” gameplay really what we have been waiting for? Let’s hope for the best. To read the full article click here, the Sonic talk is on page 3.

Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Master System arrives on Virtual Console

Today the Virtual Console gets the Sega Master System version of Sonic the Hedgehog. You would be suprised by how many people do not even know this game exists. Sure they know about the 16-bit Genesis version, but this 8-bit version even includes new levels, bosses, music, overworld map, as well as finding the Chaos Emeralds in the levels themselves. The US version of Sonic on SMS was the last SMS game released in the States, and is one of the rarest Sega games available. The only difference from the European version (which is only a few bucks) is a sticker on the packaging. Hit the break for a video of one of the “new” levels in the SMS version, as well as a really cool Robotnik boss fight. First ‘Sonic and the Black Knight’ details and screenshots revealed

UPDATE: Thanks to reader TheDUDE for the heads up, following this link takes you to Nintendo’s Japan site where in the video you get a couple seconds of the first ever Sonic and the Black Knight footage footage towards the end of the video. The results? it’s a very little glimpse but Sonic seems to (thankfully) retain his blazing fast speed and overall it looks promising.

I am sure many Sonic fans are crying at the though of a Sonic game with sword action, and I am sure many are happy to just see another Sonic game on the market, and then there are the super fans who are crying in joy that their fan art and fan fics are coming to the virtual world now. Whichever group you fall into here are some new details for the game; Sonic will learn different sword attacks and such through the good and bad actions he does during the game which are called “knighthood points”. Sonic also has a talking sword named Calibur and will also be joined by other characters such as Shadow and Knuckles. The game will use the same storybook type style for telling it’s story, just like Sonic and the Secret Rings. For the scans of more gameplay and some more in-depth details head on over to Gamekyo.

New Sonic On Its Way To Wii

Sonic and the Secret Rings is getting a sequel: Sonic and the Black Knight.

A few days ago the supposed cover for next month’s Nintendo Power leaked. It featured the blue blur armed with a sword. Many decried it as fake:

Sonic and the Black Knight - Yes, It IS Real!

Two Sonic titles on their way? One with Sonic as a werehog half the time, the other with him as a knight of the round table? Do you like all these re-inventions or do you think Sega’s lost it?

The epic Sonic Unleashed E3 Trailer, includes Werewolf-Sonic gameplay!

This epic 2:24 trailer from E3 for the upcoming Sonic Unleashed game has Sonic fans drooling! Not only does it look amazing, but it also shows off the long awaited footage of Sonic in werewolf form that we have so eagerly anitcipated. Watch for yourself and you be the judge, but as he imagined it slows down out blue friend alot as opposed to his ‘speed of light’ gameplay which is shown. Overall it looks to be possibly the best looking and playing Sonic game offered up since the 16-bit generation.
