TheEscapist got a look at Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars at E3

Vodpod videos no longer got to sit down with Ryan Mattson of Red Fly Stdios where he gave them a demo of the gameplay for Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars for the Wii. He goes over alot of the influences for the games art design and overall style, I was suprised to know that much of the games lighting effects were heavily influenced by the horror film “Creepshow”. The combat is also shown for a bit, and also take note that there is no on screen HUD to be seen, your life is represented by the top of your mushroom head which diminishes as you take damage. Check out the video and see why it is one of the must own platformers of 2008.

The epic Sonic Unleashed E3 Trailer, includes Werewolf-Sonic gameplay!

This epic 2:24 trailer from E3 for the upcoming Sonic Unleashed game has Sonic fans drooling! Not only does it look amazing, but it also shows off the long awaited footage of Sonic in werewolf form that we have so eagerly anitcipated. Watch for yourself and you be the judge, but as he imagined it slows down out blue friend alot as opposed to his ‘speed of light’ gameplay which is shown. Overall it looks to be possibly the best looking and playing Sonic game offered up since the 16-bit generation.

Mirror’s Edge, the amazing new First-Person action platformer

Mirror’s Edge is a game that is making many gamers look twice, not only for its amazing graphics, but for its imaginative new idea on gameplay. I will let the E3 Developer walkthrough video do most of the explaining, but the game basically boils down to you playing as the character “Faith” who is a runner who delivers packages across rooftops, think a carrier-pigeon only as a person. The main focus of the game is the extreme platforming elements that have you leaping across skyscrapers and city buildings in the most daring ways. The game¬†will be available for the PS3 and 360 this fall.¬†Check out the video and prepare to be amazed….platformer fans this is what we dream we can do ourselves in real life!

Mega Man 9 developer E3 walkthrough

Mega Man 9 might seem like a step backwards to some, but not the legion of fans out there that just cannot wait to get their hands on what they never though would have ever happened, an actual 8-bit Mega Man game in the style of the original 2 games. This video gives you a brief look at the story and gameplay, as well as reasons for Capcoms decision to go back to the series roots rather than give it a more flashy look. Also the title is now confirmed to be coming to WiiWare, PSN, as well as XBLA. Talk about a full treatment!

Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty coming to the PSN for only $14.99

If you own a PS3 I am sure you are happy to hear that new content is on the way for R&C. I say content because the next Rtchet and Clank game will not be your typical retail full fledged adventure, instead it is going to be a downloadable game exclusively on the Playstation Network for $14.99 this summer. Essentaily it is a continuation of the story of Tools of Destruction, and will offer the same great visuals and story.

My guess is not to expect it to bee too lengthy of a game, as at the press conference Insomniac said something to the effect of it being comparable to “a summer blockbuster movie” and then comparing it to action sequences and such, but what I take out of that is probably about a 3-5 hour long game (possibly less?) because lets face it, there are plently of 5 hour games selling out there on retail discs for $60 (Heavenly Sword anyone?) but hey who is to complain, I will pay $15 for more Ratchet and Clank on my PS3 any day!

Original Banjo-Kazooie is coming to XBLA this holiday

Some of the most exciting news to come out of E3 so far to me is that the original Banjo-Kazooie will be coming to the Xbox Live Arcade this holiday along with BK: Nuts and Bolts. Beyong that no more details were announced. I am sure we will see a slight HD buffering of the dated N64 graphics, so it will definitly look great on the 360. No doubt this is great news for platform fans because not only is this one amazing platformer, but it gives us hope that more titles of Rare will be considered for XBLA releases as well.
